What the App Does

Mykin Circuit Plan helps plan a domestic electrical installation. Its home screen is drawn as a consumer unit, and each breaker opens one tool: Circuits, Wall zones, Downlights, Cable run, Test sheet and Stages. The figures it works out are planning figures for the person doing the work; certification of an installation is a separate document that the App does not produce.

The App does all of its work on your phone. It opens straight onto its home screen without an account, works with the phone offline, and asks for no device permissions. It is available in English and Spanish.

Information Stored on Your Device

Your entries are kept on the phone itself, in the private storage Android gives each app (shared preferences). They serve one purpose, which is showing your jobs back to you:

• jobs: the name given to each job, and which job is open
• circuits: each way of the consumer unit with its name, how it is fed, the protective device and its rating, the cable size, route length, installation method and the side of the residual current device it sits on
• walls: each wall's name and size, and the sockets, switches and data points placed on it with their positions
• ceilings: each ceiling's name and dimensions, the rows and columns of downlights, the joist direction, centres and offset, and the wattage of each fitting
• test figures: the continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance and RCD trip time entered against each circuit
• stages: which first fix, second fix and final test checklist items are ticked
• settings: the language chosen and whether sounds are on

These entries stay with the App on your phone, and the App sends them to nobody. It reaches outside itself in three places, each only when you tap it: the MYKIN LIMITED website at mykin.digital and this Privacy Policy, both opened in your browser, and a new message to projects@mykin.digital, opened in your email app.

Services Used by the App

Two Google components are involved in running the App:

• Google Play Services: the Google system software found on Android phones that receive apps through Google Play. The App relies on it only as part of that platform, and whatever it handles is processed by Google under Google's own privacy policy. Further details: Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts: the App's lettering is set in Lexend and Red Hat Mono, two typefaces from the Google Fonts library that are packed inside the App, so text is drawn from the copies already on your phone. Further details: Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

Managing and Deleting Your Data

Any entry can be changed or taken out in the tool that holds it, and a whole job can be removed from the list of jobs. Uninstalling the App, or wiping its data from the Android app settings, erases every job and setting it holds.

Children

Mykin Circuit Plan is meant for people aged 16 and over who plan or carry out electrical work, and it is not directed at children.

Revisions to This Policy

When this policy is revised, the new wording replaces the old at this same address, and the link inside the App always leads to the version in force.
